Just like for Torino, Sestriere’s urban history is more linked to single episodes that are distant in time one from the other, rather than to slow growth and evolution as is usual for urban and micro-urban transformation.
Sestriere is also an island, or better a small archipelago or also a lunar landscape. Seen from above, its verticality and lights remind of somethiong very different and distant, not necessarily pleasant but surely striking.
We wanted to gently land a very small spaceship in Sestriere. This opened up and became a bridge and now it’s there, above the road, allwing crs to pass beneath it and men to pass on top of it. It’s made of steel and glass and it lights up at night so that people can spot it and recognize the site
